Of Spies and Men

Thanks for the great response to Web Zeroes, Episode 2. Web Zeroes episodes are always a tad more nerve wracking to release because it really is putting a bit more of us out there than our machinima. I mean, obviously. But then again, you get to see Nick’s beard, so I guess it all evens out. Were it not for that beard, perhaps many of you would have been turned off to the show’s charm. Sometimes I want to wear it like a parka.

In other news, we are hard at work on the first few episodes of The Leet World, Season 2. Obviously, I don’t want to spoil any kind of “secritz”, but we’re working on something fun for the first episode’s release. Mark my words, you might get excited enough to punch a puppy when you see what I’m talking about. And not to leave you hanging with that tease, here’s another one. Or three, to be exact:

Have fun with those. Those are like, sneaky James Bond style screenshots.

By the way, downloads for Web Zeroes are coming today at some point, we just got so caught up in working on Season 2 that we literally just forgot. I’m assuming we’ll be forgiven for that. If not, tough enchiladas.

Gears of Production

I’ve been playing Gears of War 2 like a madman all weekend. Seriously. I believe it is affecting my day-to-day interactions with those of hume kind. I am like a raving lunatic, curb stomping all in my path and demanding that random passersby get out of my way while I take mad cover. I’m a little into it. Maybe because I’m an absolute video game nut, but I guess you knew that.

If you have an XBox 360, I’d recommend getting it just for Horde mode, which is probably the crowning jewel of the title. Great stuff. I’ll be doing a review for GamerSushi sometime in the near future, so that’ll be fun.

Filming marches onward, and I wish I could show you some more, but we’re trying to guard Episode 1’s secrets like some ancient guild. You’ll see more soon enough.

In the meantime, a new episode of Web Zeroes is on the way this week. Should be up within a few days.  Happy Waiting. And if you haven’t bought the TLW Season One Soundtrack yet, something is wrong with you.

The TLW House

Thanks for the cool response that you guys gave to the G.R.I.E.F. trailer. I’ve got to say, the general excitement people showed for it was pretty sweet. We’re looking forward to doing a few episodes of G.R.I.E.F. while we continue to recharge and prepare for Season 2 of The Leet World.

The Web Zeroes Pilot should be hitting at some point next week, as well as some other cool TLW extras. Also, PAX is this weekend, and I really can’t wait, but more on that later.

It occurred to me that some of you dudes would be stoked to have a couple of the maps that we film on. Nothing too exciting, just thought you’d like to have them. So, here you go- simply download these and then stick them into your cstrike/maps folder:

TLW House
Death Room

Edit: For those of you wondering, the TLW House is an edited Militia map with no hosties, no time limit, no cars in the garage and Leeroy’s Lair. Also, that map probably won’t work in GMod if you don’t have CSS, but the Death Room should be just fine.

G.R.I.E.F. Trailer

In a world overrun with hoodlums, criminals and vagabonds— griefers — one government agency rises to take a stand against an abomination that threatens the very existence of Matchmaking.

This is a trailer for our new Halo mini-series that should be hitting next month, titled, as you all know, G.R.I.E.F. It’s going to be an action/comedy series with a heavy emphasis on the action. We’re excited about it, and you should be too.

Stay tuned to the site for some more cool announcements and extras this week (some of it TLW related) that you definitely don’t want to miss. Huzzah!

Edit: Much thanks to Burnie from Rooster Teeth for the shout out. You all should go check out Ep 12 of Reconstruction.

Nom-Nom-Nominations

If you’re unaware, there are two super-cool things happening in the machinima world in November.

  • Machinima Filmfest in New York. If you’re interested in presenting your piece for a variety of awards including Best Short, Best Writing, Best Director, etc., you’d better get cracking.
  • Machinima Expo takes place in Montreal the very next week. There, selected works will be displayed to an audience of thousands.

For those machinimakers out there, this is a great chance to get some exposure and if you’re in the area of these events, I’m sure they’d be cool to attend. I hope to attend Machinima Filmfest myself.

In other news, Jace has produced some hot Smooth Few Films shirts for Daniel and I to wear to PAX:

While these aren’t for sale, you can still check out our other shirts that are available. Also, if you haven’t seen Meet the Sandwich yet, do yourself a favor and laugh your head off.

Idle Hands…

Det. Dawson, Case File No. 14113

Back to Square One. I might have to go off the books for the next few weeks. Something doesn’t add up here. Finally logged Exhibit B, but it seems rather inconsequential to me. Traced the call back to a warehouse in Italy but all that was left there was dust and echoes.

Exhibit B (Sizlewski’s answering machine):

Probably just some kids screwing around, or some bored workers.

And the Winner Is…

Det. Dawson, Case File No. 14113

This was pulled from the entertainment page of this morning’s edition of “The Daily Source”. Filed to archives.

After personally reviewing the surveillance tape submitted by Mr. Wolfe, it confirms that Westheimer was indeed at the TLW house as specified in the report. I thought it seemed too easy. Mugshot filed to archives as well:

The Case of Adam Sizlewski

Case No. 14113

Location: Abandoned apartment of Adam Sizlewski. Profession: Actor, stagename is Sizzler.

Status: Presumed missing

Exhibits A, C, E, F:

Photos of the crime scene reveal signs of a struggle, possible injury. Blood is a match for Sizlewski. Bullets removed from the wall match a handgun registered to Sizlewski. Neighbors heard the gunfire and alerted the authorities.

Exhibit G is most curious:

Package and envelope mentioned are missing. Nothing else appears to have been taken from the apartment. Investigation is on-going.

Episode One Commentary

Well dudes, here is the first installment of our Episode commentaries. Hopefully you’ll find out a few things that you didn’t know, or just laugh while listening to us goof around during the first episode of The Leet World.

Listening to the commentary works best if you have already downloaded the episode (that way you don’t have to worry about buffering). Simply download the audio file below and play it in conjunction with the episode. Once the commentary starts, we give you a little countdown so you know when to start the episode on your end (hit play on “go”), that way you’ll be in sync with what we’re saying.

We tried a new recording method for this commentary as well and I have to say it worked out alright, though a certain someone had the mic a tad too close to his mouth. We still love Daniel, though.

Enjoy! Right-click and select “save as” to download it.

If you haven’t downloaded Episode One, you can stream it from YouTube or here. And don’t forget to visit our store!

The Poor Burro

He is muy triste. That means sad. He could tell you a story with his tears.

Somehow over the course of recording the dialogue for the Season Finale (we recorded parts 1 and 2 together, then part 3 a couple of weeks later), the mysterious burro became the brunt of many jokes. Were he real, I assure you his tears would fall like so much chubby rain. Or worse yet, sideways rain.

Anywho, as I said in the last update, there were well over 50 audio tracks to sort out, so the outtakes are about twice as long as usual. Hopefully you have as much fun listening to them as we did being goofballs. Right click and select “save as” to download it.

Warning: Definitely some NSFW tomfoolery on here.

Enjoy. The first commentaries should be hitting the site next week.
